Making funding opportunities visible, not just listing them.
As part of our commitment to "enabling research," CENIT e.V. continuously curates publicly accessible EU funding programmes relevant to dance medicine research, movement science, and prevention in competitive sport and dance. The European funding landscape is fragmented and rarely tailored to the needs of a small, interdisciplinary field such as dance medicine – we aim to make it more visible and accessible for universities, researchers, and professional associations in our network.

COST – European Cooperation in Science and Technology · Open Call 2026

COST does not fund research itself, but the build-up of four-year, interdisciplinary science networks ("COST Actions") – covering networking meetings, training schools, short-term scientific missions and dissemination, not staff or lab costs. An Action requires participants from at least seven COST member countries, at least 50% of which from so-called Inclusiveness Target Countries, and at least 40% early-career researchers and innovators. For an emerging network such as dance medicine in Europe, this is a low-threshold entry point: applicants are typically research institutions, while civil-society organisations such as CENIT can join as network partners.

Doctoral Networks fund international doctoral training programmes combining academic and non-academic partners – with a total budget of €593 million for more than 130 projects across all scientific fields. Universities wishing to supervise doctoral research on dance-medicine questions can involve non-academic partners such as CENIT as Associated Partners, for example to provide practical insight or host short doctoral secondments. Applications are led and coordinated by academic institutions; for CENIT this would be conceivable as a supporting network partner, should a suitable university collaboration arise.

Erasmus+ Sport funds transnational partnerships (at least three organisations from three programme countries) on topics such as health-enhancing physical activity, coach education, or good-practice exchange – organisationally and financially more accessible than Horizon Europe research funding. The 2026 round's deadlines (Cooperation Partnerships and Small-scale Partnerships: 5 March 2026) have already passed. Based on past cycles, the next round is typically published under the 2027 Erasmus+ Programme Guide in late autumn or winter 2026, with a deadline usually in early March of the following year. Concrete dates were not yet available at the time of writing – we will update this entry once the call is published.
